Hi, I'm trying to investigate a timeout issue with crystal report viewer. I'd like to read the knowledge base article that was previously at
http://support.businessobjects.com/library/kbase/articles/c2018701.asp
Can someone tell me if the kb articles have all been migrated to an SAP location and how to track them down please? I've attempted to use the advanced search feature on the SAP notes page with c2018701 as the notes ID, but there is no 'search' button to kick off the query.
Request clarification before answering.
Hi Colin
Please visit the following link to see the Note#c2018701
If you are not able to view it, here is the content of the Note:
Error: "Maximum processing time or maximum records limit reached."
Symptom
When attempting to view a report in BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server 11, the following error message appears:
"Maximum processing time or maximum records limit reached"
Cause
This error message appears because the Crystal Reports Page Server and Report Application Server (RAS) return a maximum of 20,000 records by default.
Resolution
To resolve this error message for the Page Server:
Go to Start > Programs > BusinessObjects XI > BusinessObjects Enterprise (or Crystal Reports Server) > Central Management Console.
Log into the CMC with an Administrator's account.
Click 'Servers', and then click the 'Crystal Reports Page Server'.
Under the 'Properties' tab, change the option 'Database Records To Read When Previewing Or Refreshing a Report' to 'Unlimited'.
Click 'Update'.
Restart the Crystal Reports Page Server service.
To resolve this error message for the RAS Server:
Go to Start > Programs > BusinessObjects XI > BusinessObjects Enterprise (or Crystal Reports Server) > Central Configuration Manager.
Hope this helps!!!

Sourashree,
you amaze me every time you post something here in this forum.
I have been looking for it under the exact same link however I couldn't find it.
Maybe I had to open my eyes properly )
Thanks for sharing it though.
Oh and error number is:
1219649 - Error: "Maximum processing time or maximum records limit reached."

Jehanzeb
Thanks for the content of the note Sourashree, that is very helpful. I'm not able to access the link directly but I'll see if I can get a userid and password. Can I ask how you found it though? Did you search on the error or is there a way to map the kb number to a unique id in SAP? I'd like to be able to find articles in future without having to post in the forum

Hi Colin
To search for the notes(KBase articles), you need to logon to the Service Market Place(SMP) -> Go to the Support Portal -> Click on Help & Support .
Here you can search for a particular note number or simply type in the error message and search for all the notes related to the same.
Hope it helps!!!
Regards
Sourashree
Hi Colin,
All the Knowledge Base Articles from Business Objects is migrated to SAP's Service market place.
You need to log in to www. service. sap. com(remove the spaces)
Under SAP Support Portal, you would find a link "SAP Notes Search"
Once you click on the link you would be taken to a page where you need to enter the Knowledge Base Article.
For accessing the Service Market Place you nee to have the Logon Credentials.
Hope this helps,
Shraddha
"I don't believe it" (in the voice of Mr Meldrew)
I knew I was doing something wrong - you have to have the * in BOJ* in the application area if you are using that box however I am sure I tried it blank
thanks

Hi Shraddha
but this does not work for me, so what am I doing wrong
I click on "Help & Support" and then "Search for SAP Notes"
I get a data entry from and in the top right corner is a box labeled "Number"
do I use this for the SAP note number? or do I put the number in the search term box?
There is a link to "Refer to the learning map" and if I watch the English version PPT it has 2 example notes 1167659 (a SAP one) and 1004573 (a BO one)
I can search using the number box or the search term box and I get the SAP one as shown in the PPT but if I search for the BO one I get note from a different application area if I leave the application area blank or nothing if I have BOJ* - it just says "Did you mean 1004513" and if I click on that it again says nothing found "Did you mean 10051" and clicking on that give me a list with "1181088" in it which is a BOJ note and if I go back to the start and type 1181088 in the "Number" box takes me straight to it
so Shraddha, how did you find the note 4616600? what did you type where?

and Shraddha Arya says

Morning Shradha,
I simply don't understand one thing, why SAP has restricted access to knowledge base articles? I mean these are open articles aren't they? Secondly if you search for these articles online you are transferred to BO website which transfer you to this forum.
What's the point of transferring people here when the articles won't be published here!
Out of my understanding!!!
Regards
Jehanzeb
thanks but no thanks - I already have that article I have a print out of it
the point I am trying to make is that searching SAP Notes does not work - it does NOT return old BO KBase articles even if you type in the exact number or a known phrase
what am I doing wrong using SAP Notes Search
Regards
Andrew

You are NOT doing anything wrong, there are some articles which are in the search list and some aren't like if you read the above posts you will see that even first article which was requested, I could not find by using the old article number.
Later Sourashee some how found it, I have no idea what they have done when they moved the articles over to SAP.
Sorry cant be much of help in this case.
Regards
Jehanzeb
searching for old BO KBase article numbers on https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/notes in either "search term" or "number" boxes does not work
for instance I have a print out of 4616600 - What are the minimum rights required to view Desktop Intelligence documents on BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2?
if I search for 4616600 or if I search for any combination of the words then nothing is returned
I have set "Application area" to BOJ
what am I doing wrong?
regards
Andrew
This should probably be in "Business Objects General" rather than "Crystal Reports Design"

Morning Colin,
Right let me see....
are you referring to Crystal Reports Server Infoview? or is it within Crystal Reports?

Jehanzeb

Its CrystalReportsViewer Jehanzeb, we are accessing the reports through a bespoke ASP.NET portal. I'm more concerned with trying to find out how to navigate through SAPs help interface though as there are many links on the web that point to pages which are not working. Do you know if these articles still exist?
Thanks,
Colin
To be honest I think they forgot to put that particular article because when I searched online it does point to old link and when I use the same article it does not bring anything.
I tried using "timeout" report "viewer" and it brought the results related to Infoviewer.
Usually they have all these articles which point to wrong links under SAP.
I have used number of articles which were pointing to old link under SAP and they work.
I think they forgot to add the article in your case or they have taken it out because they might have ended the support?
Not sure but the best place to ask this would be under "social, coffee area" of this forum list.
Why?
well usually when you post anything there allot of Moderators and SAP people reply to your email, additionally this question might be related as general question which can be best answered there.
You can try it, there is no harm making another post there too.
Here is the link to it
This might help you.
P.S if you do find out where it is, please post it here too. Just to help others if they are searching.
Many thanks
Regards
Jehanzeb
