Variable Pay - Multiple assignments/transfer

Hi,

How do we cater multiple assignments/transfer/salary change scenarios for variable pay?

My client wants to show all the assignments in the worksheet. I configured the display setting for Assignment-based Bonus Programme as below.

However, in the worksheet, the system will always retrieve and show only the latest record from the job info in EC.

Worksheet:-

My issue is when employee change location during the bonus period the Business Unit Performance and Company Unit Performance percentage will change.

Business Unit Performance and Company Unit Performance percentage are determined by location. These two fields are custom fields with a lookup table formula

My client expected result for the worksheet is as below:-

Is the requirement feasible? If not, how do we cater to such requirements?

The 153% comes from the combined result of the two business goals.

Assignment 1:
Proration: 32.88%
Achievement: 150%

Assignment 2:
Proration: 67.12%
Achievement: 155%

150%*32.88% + 155%*67.12% = 153.356%

I would consider that the "correct" Business Performance for the two assignments.

Hi again - I was thinking of your scenario and I actually wondering why you aren't using Business Goals for the Business Unit and Company Performance sections?

Hi Philip,

Yes, I'm using Business Goal for Company Performance and Business Performance. This part seems fine.

When come to calculation,

Weighted Business Unit Performance formula = Business Performance Percent(Test) * Business Unit Performance Split(%)

153% * 40% = 0.61%

Business Unit Performance Split(%) is a custom field.

The expected result should be:-

153% * 40% = 0.61%

150% * 40% = 0.6%

Besides that, i'm not sure how does the system get 153%. If I sum up the Business Performance 150% + 155% it should be 305%

Is there any way to achieve the expected result?

Hi

Yes, this is possible. However, it can be very complex. From your screenshots, it looks like you are doing everything correctly to set it up. The issue comes from your custom fields - your fields are all at the summary level, so they use the data as of the worksheet effective date, as you described. You need to change these custom fields to what are known as ALCFs - Assignment Level Custom Fields. (Help Documentation). ALCFs can be a bit challenging to wrap your head around at first. I will see if I can get a blog post covering the basics up in the next few days.

ALCF basic steps (how to set up your template so that you can make calculations directly at Assignment Level) is explained in recording number 3 of this blog : https://blogs.sap.com/2021/03/11/3-key-configuration-setups-to-master-in-variable-pay/

Keep in mind that we can now integrate VarPayEmpHist with MDF objects which means a lot of the complexity can now be moved there (but it's always nicer when there is no MDF maintenance needed).
