Hi Experts,
We have got new requirement for installing Winshuttle Function module.
I have gone through various available links and got to know to install Addon : http://wise.winshuttle.com/category/11/0/10/Winshuttle-Query/Function-Module/
Does anyone got chance to actually install it and share their experience about requirement gathering and impact on existing system.
I am also interested to know compatiblity of Winshuttle version with SAP.
Appreciate your quick response.
Thanks,
Rupali

Hi Rupali
i have been using Query since its release so I have had experience with the process of the Install.
When you import the transport for Query it of course comes in with all the normal protocol of any other Sap related import for creating a namespace.
The process is fairly quick and painless. The instructions are very clear - and i have not needed any type of support - although if you were to require support - I have found Winshuttle support team to be fast and efficient!
Winshuttle is a Partner with SAP that means - as you may already know - that their product meets and follows the standards set by SAP in order to place their product in an SAP environment.
The Query product with the function module installed has features to monitor and balance the
resource pull (RFC) on the system. The word that is used to describe this is
" throttle" which when the query is in execution the Query Function module ensures the SAP server performance is not affected by pulling and releasing 1000 lines at a time.
The other feature is "Chunking"
Data chunk value: This setting can help performance when you are extracting a large number of records. By default, for single table queries, QUERY calculates the optimum chunk value for the run based on query characteristics, such as total field length and number of records to extract. With the data chunk value set, QUERY fetches only the number of records for each chunk that you can specify. The maximum allowed value for chunk size is 450000. A Stop button also appears so that you can stop the extraction if it is running for too long. (http://wise.winshuttle.com/article/AA-01845/0/Data-Chunking-in-Query.html 11/15/12)
But saying all of ths I also want to mention in my experience - I have not had an issue with really needing this - if your Query creators know how to build optimized queries then the resource usage should be minumal and not any different from an SQ01 query that exists in SAP.
Also - I have to go through protocol in Germany to load my transports so my timeline for deployment is stretched.
What I am excited about is that Query now comes in the non function module version!
I am actually going to migrate to this product - because this way I can maintain and support the product here in the US. Amd there are some new features added along with this new release Please follow this link.
