Dear Sap Gurus,
What is the difference between a Dialog user and a Background user. I have asked a specific role to be assigned to Auditors, but the consultants have said that they cannot grant that role because it will give access to very sensitive data. They in turn suggested that they will create a background user with that role.
what is the difference between a dialog user and a backgroud user and how it relates to sensitivity of data ?
Thanks in advance,
Diwakar

Hi Diwakar,
1. A backgroud user type can not login into the system which is unlike a dialog user. So, even if you give the user type BG to the auditor he would not be able to login to the system at all. Thus, logically it makes no meaning to give any user type other than DIALOG to the auditors. Background users are used mainly for running the BG jobs, which a normal dialog user had restrictions to. But stil if your consultants have any justification for using a BG user particularly, please let us know too, so that we can discuss the same as well.
2. Regarding the sensitive data, the auditor has to have jst display rights for what all he sees. You can give access to only the display roles for the same, thus maintaining he does not play with any of your sensitive data.
Regards,
Hersh.
