WorkFlow Reject work item automatic

Hello, I'm in need of help with WorkFlow. I have a work item for user decision, containing two steps approve and reject. What we want, is that if a certain time has passed and the work item has not had any decision, we need to reject it.
I wonder if you have any settings that reject the work item after a certain time? Thank you very much.

Not that I am a workflow expert, but why don't you prefer to set to obsolete instead of rejecting?

Even this would be my last resort, after using 'kind reminders', escalations, re-routing, etc.

I would be proceeding with great caution with such requests and only after receiving a written reassurance by the person responsible, that this is in line with the company policy. I would still warn the business of the implications if they insist on adopting such approach.
