Fellow users,
I have a Story in which I have my data displayed like this:

The dimension used is called "Prodh L1", the first measure is a standard measure from my live BW-connection and the 2nd and 3rd measures are calculated measures based on measures from BW. If I add a second dimension called "Prodh L4" the data is split in several underlying levels. Below is the example of the breakdown for the first dimension:

Now I have created a Excel-file in which I map every "Prodh L4" to a "Prod Segm 1". I created Linked Dimension, looking like this:

Both are matched on "ID". I add this Linked Dimension to my table as a Linked Model. I add the "Prod Segm 1" as a Dimension and my table changes to this:

The mapping has worked correctly and most of the table still looks the same. However: all the 'zero' values - which were presented as a "-" in the previous table - have now been replaced by a diagonal line in the cell, as if SAC says it can't calculate anything there. If I now remove the first two Dimensions and leave only my newly added Dimension "Prod Segm 1" - as this is my goal for this entier exercies - I get this:

Instead of getting the aggregated sums for all the underlying levels, it gives me all 'diagonal lines' (except for the "ACT Gross Sales" column, because this column contains no cells with a 'zero' value). I'm guessing this has something to do with SAC replacing the 'zero' on the underling levels with a 'diagonal line'. Why does SAC do this? Is there something I'm doing wrong or is what I'm trying to achieve impossible due to some reason I'm not aware of?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Stefan,
Maybe you can extract the BW live data via SAC to Excel and create an import model via this way? If it works with an import model and the combine data feature you are pretty sure it's a live BW blending issue.

Hello Martijn,
this is indeed the case. I've extracted the data through BW and saved it as a Excel-file. Created a Model based on this file and used the 'Combine Data' feature to add my custom Mapping. I created a Story afterwards and now the measures add-up nicely:
Test Model (non live connection with Combined Date feature):

Main Story (live-connection with data blending):

Thanks for your help in sorting this out, guess I'll have to find another way to work around the issue at hand.
Kind Regards,
Stefan
Hello Stefan,
sorry for the delay on my side.
Let me try to clarify the items:
The elements you show in the first screen, all the data is coming from BW and the measures are either standard measures or they are Calculated Measures in the BW Query.
You then add the second dimension "Producth L4" and you linked a spreadsheet on it.
then you add the dimension from the spreadsheet and that is when the empty values in the table show the diagonal line - correct ?

Hello,
I am trying to make a story by blending two import data models on SAC. I have two common dimensions (Document and Position), and I am trying to make a table by combining measures from both models. The aggregation sum for the second model gave me just the total amount for each position, as I show in the pic.
Somebody can help me?
Thank you in advanced.

Hi Stefan,
sure that scenario will work because you then have all the data imported in SAC.
Could you try one small item and create the BW measures in the query as actual calculated keyfigures and use the NODIM() option and see if that would make a difference ?
Thanks
Ingo

Hello Ingo,
not completely clear on what you mean, but I can't change anything when creating the Live connection Model. So if it's something that I would need to do when creating the Live connection Model, I can't. If you mean something else, please help me along as I'm quite new to all this.
Thanks in advance, kind regards,
Stefan
Hi Stefan,
Looks like SAC is not able to calculate the measure values when dimensions are not part of the crosstab. This scenario could well be limited due to the live BW blending. Could you try to do the following: use an import connection to BW to import the data, combine this with the Excel file during model creation, create a crosstab on top of a single model.
With kind regards,

Hello Martijn,
thanks once again for thinking with me through this. Sadly, our IT Department has disabled import connections to BW, I can only use live connections and am therefore obliged to use the 'live BW blending'. This has limited me before, but never as significantly as this example. Is there any way to check if this issue is really caused by the 'live BW blending'?
Kind regards,
