Legacy load

Hi Gurus,

I need to load a flat file to BI system

i have only first five fields of the flat file in the data source but the file contains around 19 coloumns

can i upload this as it is or it should be loaded with five coloumns which are in the datasource

i am excepecting answers ASAP

Hi ,

In that case the load will fail.......

The structure and the format of the file should be same as DSO ....where ultimately you will load the data........

Open the Active table of the DSO..........create you file data in the same format........

Sequence and the field length should be same.......for an example : 13.04.2011............may be the date format is YYYYMMDD.......so the length is 8.....but if you include the DOTs then the lenght here is 10........so you have to edit the valuein the file as 20110413

Please check whether in the DSO setting.....the option "SIDs Generation upon Activation" is checked or not......if this box is checked and the date format is wrong then the DSO activation will fail......

but i need some more information on this like

i have the file with me now and the option in the DTP is "Load Text type file from Local work station"

but when i am trying to browse the file, there is no file with the same name on their Desktop

I am accessing their systems using CITRIX VPN

please suggest is there any other way to upload the file ASAP
