Input Controls - Display Issue

I received this email from a client of mine:

I have a couple of questions about input controls in Web Intelligence (V3).

I have set up a list box so that users can filter on item codes. However I cannot get it to display all the item codes that appear in the report. Those displayed equate only to the ‘page 1 of 5’ values seen when setting up an ‘in list’ report filter on the same items

Is there a way to overcome this limitation? I have looked at users added filters as an alternative and while this does at least list all item codes, it does not allow the user to select multiple items.

Secondly, I have two report tabs with independent input controls (one for tea items and one for coffee items). Both reports are filtered to show either tea or coffee. Is there a way to get the input controls to recognise these filters, and the list displayed contains all items for both reports.

Many thanks

Client Product Version: BusinessObjects XI3.1 SP5

The input control is constructed from a merged dimension – the item code comes from two providers; a sales query and a forecasted sales query. The the List Of Values Batch Size property of the WIReportServer has been set to 50,000.

Personally, I think that it’s very possible that the reason why the input control isn’t working correctly is because the merged dimension has been designed at report level. However, the customer does not use a Data Warehouse to merge the data first, so I need to know if there is any way to get the input controls to recognise these filters, and the list displayed contains all items for both reports.

Does anyone have any experience of this, or any ideas?

Hi Ian,

two questions require separate threads, this would encourage other users to respond and makes things leaner.

Please try also a way to simplify the questions because they are quite articulated and people may not understand what the problem is.

Thanks
