Hi,

Could some one help me understand what HANA Run Time Licensing means. What can be done if I have a HANA Run Time License system and what can't be done.

1. Can i bring in Non SAP data into HANA Run time Licence system?

2. Can we build Calc views and other HANA object like Stored Proc, Table function, Tables etc

3. Can HANA Run Time and HANA Enterprise licensing system can interact ?

Regards

Ganapathi.

Some of the answers above are wrong and misleading.

To give you a clear answer, from the point of view of a HANA runtime License for BW :

1. Can I bring in Non SAP data into HANA Run time Licence system?

Yes. 100%. You can (have to) use SDI to bring data from a non SAP system...for example a Teradata, or SQL database...as long as you store this data in a BW. Actually in a BW/4HANA system it's the only technical way to import large amounts of data from such databases.

2. Can we build Calc views and other HANA object like Stored Proc, Table function, Tables etc

Here we should differentiate:

  • Creation of calculation views, stored procedures, sure...as long as the raw data that you use is coming from an SAP application. In fact, it is the virtualization capabilities that calculation views provide the major incentive to upgrade to a HANA based BW.
  • Regarding Tables. Well, if you want to create a table in HANA and fill it with your own coded logic aside of an SAP application, my understanding is that this is outside of a runtime license. In this case you would be using HANA as a development platform.

3. Can HANA Run Time and HANA Enterprise licensing system can interact?

I don't have experience in such scenario. At first glance, I would say that any licensing from SAP would try to encourage such scenario. But better if you just check with your SAP account manager.
