Anyone test Flash Player 10.1 with Xcelsius 2008 generated SWFs yet?

Hi,

Degradation of flash player is not required

Hope this will help you all

1. Copy the URL of the SWF file you want to insert and save it to a

notepad. For example, if the file name is abc.swf, and the file is

located at D:\My Documents, then the file URL should be "D:\My

Documents\abc.swf"

2. Insert the SWF file to your PowerPoint presentation. The

specific steps may be slightly different in PowerPoint 2003 and 2007.

• In PowerPoint 2007, ensure the Developer tab has been

enabled. If it is not, go to Office (the Microsoft logo at the top left

of the window) -> PowerPoint Options, and tick the checkbox Show

Developer tab in the Ribbon in the pop up interface.

The next actions are the same in both versions.

• Click on the More Controls icon in the Control group.

• In the More Controls prompt box, scroll down the list to

Shockwave Flash Object and click the item. Then the ActiveX Control is

displayed as a crosshair object.

3. Enter the URL of the SWF file to the ActiveX Control item in

your presentation.

Right click on the crosshair item to select Properties from the

list. In the Properties interface, follow these steps:

• Find out EmbedMovie and change the item property from

computer.

• Go to the Movie item and paste the URL of the SWF file

(which is saved previously on your notepad) to the right blank.

4. Fine tune the SWF file in the PowerPoint presentation

To set specific options for playing the SWF file, do the

following in the Properties interface.

• If the Playing property is set to True, you can turn it to

False to disable the Start/Pause control.

• If you do not want the video to play in loop, go to change

the Loop property to False.

Close the Properties dialog box once it is done.

5. Set the presentation to the "Slideshow" mode to view the SWF

flash. Click the Slide Show button in the lower left of the PowerPoint

window (or press F5, or click View Show in the Slide Show menu,) to

run the SWF flash.

After that u must save your ppt ..

then click the office button i..e., on left top of your ppt

and then select the publish option to save your ppt..

After this you can open the saved ppt and you will find what u want to see..

NOTE:please check that the swf file is in same location as what u have given in your property of shockwave flash Object.

Hi Satish,

Indeed, this works. The problem that most people are having however, is that the embedding of the SWF is no longer possible. Before you just had to send over the .ppt, now you need to send the .swf along with the PPT and pray that the 'receiver' stores them both in the same folder.

I kept FP 10.1 and I followed all of your steps, but still saw no results. However, I did get confused on the following step:

Am I changing this from False to True? I changed it from False to True

• Go to the Movie item and paste the URL of the SWF file

(which is saved previously on your notepad) to the right blank.

Should I put the URL in Movie or MovieData? I put the URL in the Movie section

Not sure why it didn't work?

1.5 Months, no resolution. Problem logged, no ETA. I'm getting really tired of wiping the mud off my face when I explain this to clients. Is it going to get fixed? I am starting to doubt SAP/Adobe's commitment to fixing this.

sorry I am very new to the product, to your suggestion:

1.where can I get the URL of SWF? should I export it to PPT first or export it as HTML? and get the URL?

2. how to insert SWF into PPT?

the suggestion is too complicated, could you please send some screen shoot?

You export the SWF on its own first. Store it somewhere on your disk for example as "movie.swf"

Now export to PowerPoint. Save the PowerPoint in the same folder as the SWF.

Rightclick on the movie in PowerPoint and choose properties. Toggle Embedmovie to FALSE. Now in the movie field put the name of the .swf file, for example movie.swf.
