Data Locking

Hi all,

I need to write the amounts on the Total column (the parent in my hierarchy), and it should be spread only on Top-down adj (bottom-up adj has been locked in the model with data locking). But when I write some numbers, the following error appears:

This does not happen if I already have some values on Top-down adj. In this case data locking works properly.

Is it mandatory to have some values on the column Top-down adj to make it work?

Otherwise, do you have any suggestions or an alternative solution?

Thank you,

Martina

Hello Martina,

Hello Martina,

It's not mandatory to have some values in the Top-down adjustment column for data locking to work. Data locking should function independently of whether there are existing values in the Top-down adjustment column.

  • First, ensure that you have the correct data locking settings configured for your model. Check if you've set up the data locking rules properly, especially for the Total column.
  • Review your hierarchy settings to ensure that the hierarchy is correctly defined, and there are no issues with the parent-child relationships.
  • Verify if the data you're trying to input into the Total column adheres to any constraints or business rules that might have been defined in the model.
  • Ensure that your SAC instance is up-to-date. Sometimes, issues like these are addressed in newer releases or updates.

Alternate solutions:

  • Implement data validation rules in SAC to ensure that the data entered in the Total column adheres to your business rules and constraints.
  • Double-check your data model and hierarchies to ensure there are no inconsistencies or issues in the way data is structured.

Hi,

this is how I set my data locking. Is it correct?
