Hello Experts,

when we try to perform DB backup using BR tools from DB13 transaction, we're getting the following error:

BR0301E SQL error -31993 at location BrInitOraCreate-5, SQL statement:

BRBACKUP AT PROF_CONN */ CREATE PFILE = '/oracle/SID/18/dbs/sapSID.ora' FROM SPFILE = '/oracle/SID/18/dbs/spfileSID.ora''

ORA-31993: cannot overwrite parameter file '/oracle/SID/18/dbs/sapSID.ora'

Actually, inorder to schedule the backup successfully, we have to always delete the sapSID.ora file from the /dbs directory.

Is there anything missing in scheduling the backups? See attached screenshot "DB13_Job_log" for more information.

Any ideas are appreciated?

Hi Kashyap,

pfile and spfile are oracle specific and not SAP specific. I done oracle Upgrade from 12 to 18 running with SAP ERP system.

SAP Note 1173159 is suggested for windows and not helpful in my case.

When backup is scheduled, do you have idea, why sapSID.ora file is created in the /dbs directory?
