Hi Everyone,

I have a client that is looking to use the subscript funtion to convert the Co2 Item description to the correct format. I have tried the character map function in windows, but I cant find the small 2 to place next to the CO in the description.

If anyone has done this before I would really appreciate any comments or assistance....

Thanks

Hello Hannes,

there is a way to produce the subscript 2 in the item description, but it's far away from comfortable:

Find a font that contains the subscript 2. The only suitable font I could find in my windows installation was "Lucida sans Unicode". The subscript 2 there is available as "2082 ALT +C". In B1 change the settings to this font (and be aware that it is kept in the registry for the ADS user, so maybe you need to change it for every user). Then open the item master data. Unfortunately B1 reacts to ALT + C, so I couldn't find a way to enter CO₂ directly. But when you enter it into MS Word, where you had also chosen font "Lucida sans Unicode", and then copy and paste it to B1 you get it displayed in the correct manner.

The disadvantage of this is not only that it's a complicated way to generate this display, but B1 doesn't look very good in this font.

Maybe your way could be like this: Copy the font Tahoma, which is used by B1 by default. Edit this copy with a suitable tool (available via the web, Corel Draw is also said to be a tool for this) and add the subscript 2 on a free place. Best combine it with a tab on your keyboard for being able to enter it into B1 directly. Then put your new font on your B1 system, select it within the settings of B1 and use it.

I'm not sure if the second way will work, because I haven't edited fonts for at least 15 years, and I'm not sure if B1 will accept individual fonts, but if it's a crucial need for your customer give it a try.

Regards, Sandra

Hi,

You could try to look that in the module administration --> system initialisation --> general settings --> tab display.

If you could not find, it means currently unavailable.

Hello Johannes,

I think you are talking of a signature for e-mails send from B1, right? I just tried and it worked when I configured the mail service in the service manager, chose settings, change e-mail signature , use user defined signature and entered CO and then ALTGR-key and simultaneously 2-key as signature on my keyboard, the output was CO². That was like entering the @ via keyboard. I'm using German keyboard.

Hi Sandra,

This is not required for the email signature. I need to include the subscript 2 in an item description. The 2 you produces is superscript.

Thanks for the suggestion.

In Microsoft Word:

Superscript: Press CTRLSHIFT=

Subscript: Press CTRL+=

Sadly, I've tried copying and pasting text with the subscript for CO2 (the 2 being the oxygen) but it doesnt work in B1. Any other formatting ( ™, © etc) seems to work though.
