Code requirements . Here both the Co. Codes want same document type is it possible if yes what is the procedure . is there any Co. Code Independent Document Types. Please let me know .Points will be assigned .

Hi Sharath

Number intervals are Company dependents. Where as Document types are Client dependents. You can create your own Document types but use SAP standard Document types.

To create Document types go to T code OBA7. Here you can copy the existing one and change the name and assign the document no to this Document type.

Document types indicates the type posting you are going to do. You can use both i.e standard document types for your company code or you can create your own document and can use that. Document types which are available are sap standard and if u want u can create your own and use it.

But for each company code we need to assign separeate no. range.

Hi sarath,

while defining the document type itself it will ask for the no range which you would have created in FBN1. so as per my understanding in OBA7 itself the doc type will take the no ranges for particular company.

comany can have independent Doc type in OBA7 itself with the new entries where you wil define the no ranges for particular comp.

i hope it will be useful.

Hi,

Document types are defined at client level. there is now assignment like document type to company code. But for every document there should be number range that is defined under company code only.

so document type is one whereas number ranges are defined at company code level.

Hope this is clear, if yes assign points

hi Sarath,

Document types are customized on client level, that means the settings in tcode OBA7 will be the same for each company code. If you need something differently, than you can set up validations and substitutions.

Number ranges are set up on company code level, so you can have different number ranges for the same document type but different company codes.

hope this helps
