my name is venkat in f-02 there are 3 fields. 1) document number 2) reference 3) document header text what purpose we use with example

Hi,

The Document number is usually defined in accordance to the Maintained Number range Intervals (FBN1) as per Comp.Cd. There are 2 types:_

1st the Internally maintained where the system assign the number to the Docs &

2nd Externally maintained , where the User has to mention the same in accordance to the Number Range Interval specified & only unused one. To opt this u'v to Tick "EXT" in FBN1.

Reference act like a Search Criterion. It can be any supporting doc no from the Customer Inv or Vendor or any other entry which the user feel could facilitate search later on.,

document header text is the text explanation for the whole Document as for separate line items we have separate Text to be entered.
