can anyone please explain what is transaction data and what is the master data

Can you tell what do we classify the configuration of sales document type using vov8, (ie we create doc type ,assign num ranges , assign sales area) . I mean is this configuration data or master data or transactional data

Hi,

Master data refers to the characteristics of an object (e.g. employee) whereas transactional data refers to all the transactions that are carried out using that object.

Please refer to the thread below a separate explanation:

As an example from HR module, all infotypes related to an employee are master data whereas employee payroll data, CATS data or time evaluation results refer to transactional data of the employee.
