can anyone please explain what is transaction data and what is the master data
Request clarification before answering.
Hi,
Master data refers to the characteristics of an object (e.g. employee) whereas transactional data refers to all the transactions that are carried out using that object.
Please refer to the thread below a separate explanation:
As an example from HR module, all infotypes related to an employee are master data whereas employee payroll data, CATS data or time evaluation results refer to transactional data of the employee.

Master data :is data that remains unchanged over a period of time. It contains information that is always needed in the same way. For example, all personal attributes can be stored in various SAP standard infotypes as records with specific validity which are called Master data.
Transaction data: Data relating to the day-to-day transactions.

Dear,
Any data which does not change so frequently is master data like configuration settings Company code, personnel area, employee group, employee subgroup etc...
And
Any data which keeps changing so often is Transactional Data, like employees data.
