Hey Gurus,

I have question for difference between sap pm & eam. i went through some discussions and found that its an evolution for sap pm. Apart from that, i wish to know

1)is there any difference in functionality?

2) If so, what changes have been made in EAM?

3) How does it benefit to an Enterprise?

Please put some light on it.

Thanks & Regards

Hari

Hello Maria,

Thanks for your response. Can you please elaborate this discussion, so that everyone can get some figure of EAM. It would be great if you could post some doc links relating to the difference between them.

Thank you.

Hi Hari,

PM is a subset of EAM.

EAM covers PM, CS, a bit of QM and EHS

PM: For internal maintenance

CS: If asset is at customer location or services are being sold for external customer equipments

QM: For Inspections

EHS: For maintaining and scrapping an asset which can be dangerous.

Thanks,

Sanjay

Hi,

SAP EAM is a packaged solution for asset operators supporting the entire life cycle of assets . SAP EAM uses the available functionality of the mySAP business suit.

SAP PM is a major part of it.

Hi,

Enterprise asset management (EAM) is the optimal lifecycle management of the physical assets of an organization. It covers subjects including the design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and decommissioning/replacement of Plant, equipment and facilities.

"Enterprise" refers to the scope of the assets across departments, locations, facilities and, potentially, business units.

The SAP PM Application component provides businesses with a comprehensive software solution for all maintenance activities that are performed within a company.
The uniform, graphical user interface is particularly user-friendly and quicklymeets with acceptance thanks to the numerous possibilities that are availablefor tailoring it to meet individual business requirements.

SAP Plant Maintenance comprises the following activities: Inspection, Preventive maintenance,
Repair

Other measures taken using the maintenance organization Integration with Other SAP modules .
