We configure schedule line category for Consignment Pick Up process for two mandatory reasons -
1) So that we can have delivery process. This is configured by field "Item relevant for delivery"
2) So that we can "direct" the system with regards to inventory management (i.e. where the stock should be put - in Unrestricted, or restricted etc. areas in our plant, stock coming from the customer warehouse). This is configured by field "Movement type"

In standard SAP check in VOV6, schedule line categories F0 and F1
Furthermore, you can test, by activating and deactiving fields in your schedule line category, then creating Pick up orders and observing the differences. This exercise might help you to understand and retain things for a longer time.
