Multiple Web Client Profiles for users

Hi All

In our org structure business partners are assigned to more than one position. As a result, If only profile Z_EIC applies to a certain user, in the profile selection list the user sees this profile represented for each position they are assigned to.

I.e. A user is assigned to 5 positions/org units, but each position/org unit has the same profile, in the profile selection list the user sees 5 links to the same profile.

Is this normal?

Can it be amended so they get only one link or just go straight into the profile?

I know I can add a parameter to the user profile in CRM so that the user only gets this profile. We have users that need access to multiple profiles and are assigned to multiple org units. The example I used previously explains this. Let's say there are 2 profiles but the user is assigned to 10 org units. What I want is a profile selection screen showing 2 profile links not 10.

Adding the parameter value works except where there are users that do need access to 2 profiles and are assigned to 10 different org units, then these users will get 10 links comprising of 2 different profiles. Is there anyway to address this?

Hi Mark,

This is a very normal functrionality which provides the user the flexibility to choose the profile he needs to login as.

This profiles determines the screens and views the user would be able to see after logging in.

Please state if you wish to default it to a single profile every time.

Hello Mark

This is quite normal but there is an override. If the user needs only one business role (profile) you can set the default value as follows:

Tcode: SU01

Display user and go to Parameters tab maintain parameter CRM_UI_PROFILE with value = your business role (profile).

This takes more priority(than the UI Profile assigned to the Business Role).
