Error when applying SNOTE - objects locked

I'm using SNOTE for the first time to apply my OSS notes and I've come across an error:

"Objects locked in different tasks"

I'm applying a whole list of OSS Notes, most of which change the same couple of programs, one of my colleagues has also applied some OSS Notes on the same programs too. This is what's causing the problem. I've already got open transports for some of the programs that the OSS notes are changing:

"You want to lock the objects "LIMU REPS LVFRRF0A" and "LIMU REPS LVFRR143" in the same request. This is not possible at present since the first object is locked in task FSDK900840 (MANISHK) (with a task owner) and the second object is locked in request FSDK901058 (GACKROYD)"

So do I need to release the transports before applying any further OSS notes? Is this a bug in SNOTE? I would expect that new OSS notes would attach themselves to any open transports and not demand a new one all of their own. I have 8 OSS notes to apply so it looks likely that I'll need 8 transports, which is annoying.

Any suggestions welcome.

Gill

VEnk@ - your response doesn't really go with the question...

You could merge your transports with those of your colleague. From then on, use the same transport, with your own requests, to apply the notes.

But as has already been said - it usually is not a good idea to apply a whole load of OSS notes at one go.

Hi Gill

You must create separate Transport Request for separate OSS Notes.

As the object is locked by your friend, he must release the object after his completion, then you apply you note.

Hi Gill,

Are you from ABAP or BASIS ?

If you are form basis go to this site http://help.sap.com/ and in the right corner you can see one link other portals click on this link open a new window where in the left top of the screen you can see Icon: Access the SAP Support Portal

Supporting your SAP solution to run optimally during its entire lifecycle

SAP Notes Search click on this and it will ask for User name and Password there you give and get the notes of your requirement.

Hope my answer helps you.

Cheers!!

I know it's not ideal but after careful research we found that we could either apply 8 OSS Notes (all pre-requisites to the one SAP told us to implement) or apply 3 support packs. I think the OSS notes will take less time overall.

I'm an ABAPer but this is the first time I'm using SNOTE to apply OSS notes, usually I do them the old manual method.

How do I merge transports? It would be better to keep all the transports for these OSS notes together and not release half of them.

I remember the old method... SNOTE is so much simpler!

To merge tp, go to SE10. Take note of the request numbers of two of the requests you want to merge. Right click on one of them, and choose "Merge Requests". The first request is then merged with the second request, then removed.

Hi Gill,

As I have already told you, you need to release the object before doing any further modifications.

Otherwise you can manually change the ownership of the open TP to your User Id and apply the SNOTE

@ Swastik Bharati

As I've already said, I don't want to have lots of released transports when I'm trying to keep everything together.
