Hi,
What types of developer key are made available by SAP? I've been told there are just two: Temporary and permanent.
Is this correct and what are the main differences?
Thanks in advance!

This is what the screen looks like when you register a developer. (Note - this is still a "legacy" application and it will change soon but I expect the same functionality.)
As you can see, there are no options for different developer keys - you just enter user ID, select an installation and click Register. That's it. The key can be revoked at any time though, so really permanent/temporary is just as philosophical as permanence of life on this planet.

Hi,
What exactly do you mean with developer key?
Registering of developers? Or registering of SAP standard objects for chaning?
As far as I know there is only one type. You should check the SAP support portal for these kind of questions

Thank you Jelena,
Currently I want to minimize the amount of Developer keys in my system wich are auditable by SAP. Is the revokement of the user ID's enough or do I have to delete the keys in the DEVACCESS table?

Hi,
I think you just have to delimit the validity of the user in SU01 or in your CUA system.

I can't really speak to what are the specific audit requirements. It'd seem logical that if user ID is no longer active then the developer key shouldn't count. But there might be more to that. ABAPers rarely deal with this, if you asked in Basis forum you might have gotten more informed replies.
However, when it comes to audit requirements I wouldn't rely on a free website and ask the SAP account representative instead.
