Nothing, it is just the data definition. %subrc is variable like any other variable.

In this declaration it is nothing to do
it is just a part of the declaration of Variable.
but in other cases, like Select statements in the where condition if you give '%' means LIKE .

Change it to %_subrc & do an extended synatx check (SLIN ).. you will notice that %_ is reserved for internal use.. It is better not to use special characters at the begining of a variable name..
