Hi ALL,
I have created a Tree map with 2 dimensions and with approximately 1000 rows of data. If i do not use conditional formatting in the heatmap, it performs well. When i apply conditional formatting with 3 simple conditions, the chart takes time to render and sometimes wont even come up. The dashboard just hangs.
Has anyone tried using conditional formatting for a heatmap and faced the same issue?
searched the forum, couldn't find anything with respect to this. Appreciate any suggestions on this.
Regards,
Nithin
Request clarification before answering.
Could you provide more details, like how you are applying the conditional formatting? My guess is using BEx conditional formatting would be faster than creating the conditional formatting in Design Studio.

Hi Tammy,
I am using Universe as a data source. There are 4 conditions based on a measure used in chart for color. first condition is if measure value is less than -4 then red color, second condition is the measure value <0 then orange, third condition is the measure value =0 then green and the last condition is measure value >0 then green. Attached is the screenshot. Since there is no between or <= or >= conditions available, i have used the above mentioned condition.
Thanks,
Nithin
I'm on SP6 so it wouldn't be a valid comparison (my take only)
Usually longer-performing queries on BIP go back to a sizing/memory issue; do you have the BI Platform Support tool (free) - see http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/SAP+BI+Platform+Support+Tool to help analyze the performance of your BI Platform?
Hi Nithin - I really don't know the answer to that - my guess is client side
That's why the BEx query is faster for conditional formatting - because it is on the backend. But I understand - I will try to create a similar situation tomorrow but it's not an apples-to-apples comparison since we're on different BI platform patches.
Nithin: Would you also please look at this SAP note - http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1931691 steps 2 & 7 are relevant; I recommend at looking at the other steps
I think step 2 may help
Tammy
