Can someone confirm that Sybase Central is not part of SAP on ASE installation. What client tools are generally used to monitor, administer DB's. I know DBACOCKPIT can be used to monitor but how about administration. Is SAP planning a brtools equivalent in the coming months or is the ISQL only way to administer. Is Sybase control center the recommended path by SAP to administer Sybase currently and going forward. I am still doing my ground work and need your inputs to better approach our transition into Sybase.
Also I dont see DBACOCKPIT guides under operations for 7.3/7.31/7.4. I only see security and IQ guides. Any pointers here are appreciated as well.

Hi,
They pulled Sybase Central from SDK 15.7 SP100 and higher.
Please note there is no longer a PC-Client for ASE either in the ASE 16.x version.

When you get ASE installation there is a tool called SCC (Sybase Control Center)
You can use isql or DBISQL (Interactive SQL which can be used as a gui form.
Someone else needs to tell you about DBACOCKPIT and what it can all do.
Thanks,
Dawn Kim

Hello,
Just as information, SDK and PC client don't apply when talking about SAP ASE in a Business Suite environment.
We have our own client package names DBCLNTxx where xx is the version.
Regarding DBA Cockpit, it is the recommended way to administer and monitor SAP ASE for Business Suite and the guide is available from Marketplace:
