SWPM - GUI not started

Hi,

The SAP “SWPM” installation GUI is not getting started with the following message,

“guiengine: No GUI server connected; waiting for a connection on host bhitdms01, port 21212 to continue with the installation“

However, output of “xclock” is fine.

Anything else are you getting.. any logs or error ?

Meanwhile,

Clear everything in temp directory - including all hidden files.

Check port is not busy some where else.

Also, there are no spaces and special characters installation path and temp directory.

Hi Divyanshu,

This is the only log file "syslib_priv.log.txt" available,

please refer attachement.

tmp directory have 5 GB of free space and permission is ok.

Can you check /tmp/sapinst_instdir and /tmp/solman_inst

Also, what commands are you giving, can you give the screenshot.

Am triggering the SWPM from "/tmp/sapinst_instdir" directory with the following command

"/sapmedia/SWPM10SP06_1-20009701/sapinst"

1. Have you proved full access on the SWPM extraction folder?

2. Have you start the syntax " ./sapinst -nogui" ?

Also, for root set display and don't set java_home.

output remains same.

Already tried this option ( unset JAVA_HOME)

In that case, get some other version of SWPM.

Once you have started the " ./sapinst -nogui " in linux OS then you have to start the gui from windows OS in command prompt " SAPINSTGUI -host=(Host name of the Linux OS)" then you

can perform the installation steps from windows OS

OR on linux you can use the X manager windows

I suspect this could be the port issue, since this is a newly built system.

I have asked unix team to check the ports and firewalls.

lets wait ...

Goto the media directory /sapmedia/SWPM10SP06_1-20009701/and execute the command from there

I hope nothing is kept on NFS.

lsof -i

netstat -an

telnet

nmap

netcat/nc

Check your ports with them

Refer the attached output of command "netstat -nap"

I do not see output file contains port 21212.

Use this - nc -zv hostname xx-yy(port range)

Hallo,

from you Windows box just run below command while the sapinst command is running on your Suse box:

telnet bhitdms01 21212

If the connection works, you will get some sort of telnet output (ctrl-d and "quit)  to get out of it.

At least you will then have clarified that you network infrastructure (firewall) allows the connection.
