Strange Error Message!

We have what we call an "Executive Summary Report" that has 9 subreports. For over two years, this report has run fine and served us well. However, yesterday a error appeared in this report when we were running it... The error was...

"The page size was not large enough to format the contents of an object in the report. Page header or footer longer than a page."

What made this error so bizarre is that the subreports have NO headers OR footers. Worse still, when we filter the dataset a little bit, the report prints just fine. The dataset has 10,109 records and it seems if we filter any small amount out, the report prints fine - but when we go back to the normal desired full dataset, this error appears yet again.

Can anyone please provide (1) a translation of this error. What does it actually mean by "format the contents of an object" especially when there is no header or footer. And (2) how do we address this? Can it be that there is some 'magical' number of records in a report that just happen to hit something that causes this error???

Help please!!!

Not enough info.

As always, the 1st thing to specify is the make of the car and year of that car you want the mechanic to work on... err.; version of CR and develpment language (at minimum).

Now, this being software, it's a bit easier from there on. Use the search text box at the top right of this page. Enter "header footer longer CRYSTAL NET" (without the quotes). You should get a number of results. See if any of those help.

Also, search these forums. Lots of great info here...

Crystal Version 12, and VB.NET....

And thanks for the suggestion to search for "plenty of information" - now, what if the "plenty of information" is basically useless? In other words, I would not be posting messages to this forum if I had not already researched the problem (which I did first thing) and found that even Crystals "solution" doesnt work or even come close to working...

...but for the record, I have altered margins (as suggested), tried various checkboxes on and off (as suggested) and even tried re-laying out the report (as suggested)....

None of these "solutions" are even close to being anything that could be remotely called a "solution" - in short THEY DONT WORK.

What I DID find out is that this has been a known problem with Crystal reports going back to versions 8,9 and beyond and as I am running version 12 I made the (stupid) presumption that this might have been fixed.

...and now that we have all that out of the way - do you actually have any useful information to offer?
