Select last data value in Analytical Application

Hello,

im using a live-data connection (BW) for my analytical application.

I tried to create a numerical point which displays a measure for a given month.

Problem: I have to select the recent month manually in the filter section (dimension month: august).

How can I do that dynamically by the system so that always the recent value is shown or where can i set a date range (e.g. for september the filter applies the recent data value for the underlying measure)?

Hello Korab,

I assume you have a "date" field available that you can use as a filter.

You can then use the date field either as a story filter, page filter, or as a filter on that specific widget.

You have the option like "Current Month" as it is already mentioned in a previous answer.

What I would also suggest is to use the option for a "Custom Today" which is part of the configuration so that the user - if needed - could go back to June 2022 (as an example) without having to change the filter.

Hello Ingo!

In my settings for my field "date" i can only select certain values. My analytical application shouldnt contain a page filter or story filter cause the goal is to implement a guided analytics dashboard.

In order to get for example 08.2022 i don't want to select the value by going in the designer each time and select the new month. Always the recent month need to be shown. Could it be that the granularity of the date filed should be daily or adoptions in the query itself have to be made for the dimension "letzte 12 monate"?

May be you can try creating a restricted measure on the original measure with Date dimension restricted to current period. in my example I am restricting Gross Sales to current month

Hello! Thanks for commenting but u can not create a restricted measure when using a live data connection. Only calculated measure is possible.
