Scope of Java Developer??

Hi,

I am a 4 years Java & 1.5 years of SAP experience person. I am thinking of entering EP field.

But from whatever I have read I think there's little scope for a Developer. There's more work for EP Administrators. As GUI M/c tool has come out even developement of Java iViews will be reducing.

Is it true? Is it advisable to make career in EP as developer??

Please guide/help me giving your opinions..

regards,

Bhushan

The powers that be where I work seem to think it's very important to our clients. I have 7 years of experience on the entire J2EE stack but my focus now is on creating iViews in SAP for our vision of ESS/MSS(hmm, I wonder if a lot of the customized work is an HR thing). I do however think that a significant portion of the work for vanilla implementations can be done with the GUI tool, which is a good thing. Also, from my experience on other platforms, a lot of the work will involve organizing and defining the portal content.

I´ve done some ESS implementations and your right about the customizing inside the HR system. A major part of the work will be inside that system.

hi thomas,

I would like some pointers regarding changing some ESS iviews. In particular we need to remove some buttons and a field from one of the iviews in ESS. Can this be achieved?

thanks
