Scope of Java Developer??

Hi,

I am a 4 years Java & 1.5 years of SAP experience person. I am thinking of entering EP field.

But from whatever I have read I think there's little scope for a Developer. There's more work for EP Administrators. As GUI M/c tool has come out even developement of Java iViews will be reducing.

Is it true? Is it advisable to make career in EP as developer??

Please guide/help me giving your opinions..

regards,

Bhushan

Hello.

Your general idea is correct, I think.  Enterprise Portal is designed to provide, mostly without development, UI for any application. This is especially true when SAP systems are the primary content in the portal.

SAP's Web Application Server, however, is an enterprise platform for developing the simplest or most sophisticated web applications in the world.  So, just as there has been strong demand for ABAP developers for SAP R/3 functions there will be strong demand for java developers on the WAS platform.

Good Luck!
