SAP MC Java applet issue

Hey guys, so i just downloaded SAP Netweaver Developer edition 7.51 and I'm attempting to view the MC in the browser. However, i am receive " Your browser is completely ignoring the APPLET tag".

I've read quite a lot about it and firefox doesn't support the java plugin anymore. Downgraded to an older version fo Firefox and still no luck.

Was wondering if anyone has had any success?

Is there a way i can run SAPMC without a browser ?

Ive changed it to "file:/usr/sap/NPL/D00/exe/servicehttp/sapmc" as im on SUSE. Still no luck :/.

I have "Java 1.8.0" installed. Honestly sending me crazy.

so i have accidentally openSUSE Leap 15.2 with NPL (NW AS ABAP 7.52) on ASE in a VM laying around.

Java version is 11 but should work for 8, too.

First: install icedtea-web

zypper install icedtea-web

then go to sapmc folder

cd /usr/sap/NPL/D00/exe/servicehttp/sapmc

and run following command:

javaws.itweb sapmc.jnlp

javaws.itweb is from package icedtea-web and stands for Java Web Start

You should see something like:

Ignore the signature cannot be verified and run it.

As it is started as stand-alone application you should add (1) your system to the console maintaining the connection parameters (2).

Some notes. The above screenshots are from Windows with ssh to the VM. X11-forwarding and DISPLAY variable has to be set. If you run them on SUSE natively should work, too.

You can copy the xxx/sapmc/* files on Windows if you prefer and run them from there.

Admittedly, on SUSE Leap 15.2 I was not able to run MC and connect to SAP. Run is fine, but MC don't want to connect to SAP.

There is a compatibility problem, icedtea-web 1.7.1 is fine with JAVA 11, but won't start with JAVA 8.

Start SAPMC with JAVA 11 and trying to connect to SAP you get "createControlInterface failed: java.lang.NullPointerException".

What succeeded. Copy of the sapmc folder to Windows. Change codebase accordingly. Double-Click on sapmc.lnjp. Enter host and instance nr. Java is 1.8.0_241.

you need to adjust your java configuration in your client. Like error message say's "YOUR Security Settings have blocked...." 🙂
