Hi Ingo,

Thanks.

I have now downloaded the 3 files on my laptop and going to unzip and install soon. (I hope my laptop can support it ?).

In your link (/people/ingo.hilgefort/blog/2008/09/17/businessobjects-and-sap--installation-and-configuration-part-1-of-4), what does it mean by "BusinessObjects Edge Series"? Why you called it BusinessObject Edge? Is it the same as BuesinessObject Enterprise XI 3.1?

I just want to get the term right in order to avoid any confusion later.

Please advise, thanks.

Hi,

BusinessObjects Enterprise is the server solution for larger customers and BusinessObjects Edge is the server solution for mid market based customers. You should be able to follow the steps regardless which one you use.

Ingo,

I have downloaded the SAP Integration kit at:

Installations and Upgrades - Entry by Application Group SAP BusinessObjects packages and products SBOP INTGR. FOR SAP BOBJ INTGR. FOR SAP XI 3.0:

51033475

BOBJ Integration Kit for SAP XI 3.0

Installed this in my BOE 3.0 environment.

Now when I logon to BOE Central Management Console, I can see the Authentication.

When I click on Authentication, I can see SAP as one of the option.

When I click on SAP, nothing happen. I donu2019t get the Entitlement System screen like you have described in your blog. I can't configured the SAP logon detail here as you described in your document: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/11090. Please advise what is wrong.

Thanks.

Hi,

whats the version of your BusinessObjects system ?

Are you using Tomcat as application server ? In cases yes - can you check if in the folder program files\businessobjects \tomcat55\webapps there is a folder SAP ?

thanks

Hi Ingo,

I am able to access to the Central Management Console at Start ->Programs ->BusinessObjects XI 3.0 ->BusinessObjects Enterprise -> BusinessObjects Enterprise Central Management Console. So I think I am BOE 3.0 version.

Yes, I am using tomcat and able to see the SAP folder in program files\businessobjects \tomcat55\webapps\

I have restarted the tomcat services and now able to see the SAP Entitlement screen.

I am now able to configured the Entitlement Systems, and Options tab in the SAP Entitlement screen.

However, when I click on the Role Import tab, I hits the following:

An error has occurred:

com/sap/mw/jco/JCO$Function

What could be wrong?

Kindly advise, thanks.

Ingo,

the problem solved. I downloaded sap jco 2.1.8 version and copied the sapjco.jar and sapjcorfc.dll into the tomcat\common\lib directory.

Now I have imported the SAP Roles and user into BusinessObjects. All looks fine.

However, when I access to BOE Info via Start ->Programs ->BusinesObjects Enterprise XI 3.0 ->BusinessObjects Enterprise ->BusinessObjects Enterprise Java InfoView, I only have the User Name and Password field on the logon screen.

I dont have the SAP logon information and Authentication fields like what you mentioned in your blog.

What is wrong? Kindly advise.

Thanks.

You mean to say that in Infoview under Authentication drop down you are not able to see SAP as a Authentication Mode ?

Yes. On the InfoView logon screen, I only have two fields:

User Name

Password

I don't have the Authentication field etc on the screen. So can select/change the Authentication to SAP.

Pleaes advise what is wrong. Is it I need to configure the InfoView?

Hi,

In Central Management Console logon screen, I just noticed that I also donu2019t have the SAP option for the Authentication.

On the Central Management Console, I have the following fields:

System

User Name

Password

Authentication

However, when I click on the Authentication, the option SAP is not appears on the drop-down menu.

Do you think this is because the way I installed the SAP Integration Kits?

Should I un-install and re-install again the SAP Integration Kits?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Hi Lynn,

I was solved the problem by reinstalltion, before that just try the below solution also:

1) Goto the

Central Configuration Manager -

>Stop the Service Intelligent Agent---->right click and choose the properties>in the configuration tab choose the CMS System Datasource then click the button specify---> select the radio button Recreate the Current Datasource and press OK. It will create new Datasource.

Note: DB should be backedup otherwise you lose your data

2) Try to redeploy the .war.

If it is not solved then try with re-installation.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Lynn,

I assume you are using tomcat. Before trying to reinstall anything please try the following:

1) Open the following file in Notepad: <BOJB Installation directory>\Tomcat55\webapps\InfoViewApp\WEB-INF\web.xml

2) Locate the following text in your file

<context-param>

<param-name>authentication.visible</param-name>

<param-value>false</param-value>

</context-param>

and change it to

<context-param>

<param-name>authentication.visible</param-name>

<param-value>true</param-value>

</context-param>

3) Save your changes and restart your Tomcat.

The authentication drop-down list should be now visible when you navigate to the InfoView.

Ingo and all,

Thanks for your help.

I have re-installed the Integration Kits and the problem solved. I can now see the SAP Authentication on the InfoView/Central Management Console logon screen. And I can now logon into BOE with my SAP credential.

I have the following questions, please help me to understand:

1) By login on into InfoView with my SAP credential, does it mean that I can access/execute the report/dashboard published into BOE that created from SAP BW?

2) And the level of access to this report/dashboard is dependent on what I can access SAP BW? i.e. in BW, if I can only access to Company Code 100, then when I execute this report in BOE, I can only access to Company Code 100, correct?

3) In that case, I should first build and publish the report/dashboard into BOE using xCelsius/Crystal and the DataSource is BW?

Regarding the SAP Integration Kits installation, I donu2019t have the screen where I can enter the CMS logon information and DW Publisher Parameter as described into your blog: /people/ingo.hilgefort/blog/2008/09/17/businessobjects-and-sap--installation-and-configuration-part-4-of-4

FYI, I have so far installed only the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0 and SAP Integration Kits 3.0. I have not done the installation for Crystal Report and Xcelsius, as well as LiveOffice as mentioned in your blog.

Is this the reason why?

Please advise, thank you.

Hi,

1) By login on into InfoView with my SAP credential, does it mean that I can access/execute the report/dashboard published into BOE that created from SAP BW?

that depends on the security settings in your BusinessObjects Enterprise system and the dashbaords from CR and XC need to be available on your BOE system.

2) And the level of access to this report/dashboard is dependent on what I can access SAP BW? i.e. in BW, if I can only access to Company Code 100, then when I execute this report in BOE, I can only access to Company Code 100, correct?

if you are using SAP credentials and all items are configured for SSO - yes

3) In that case, I should first build and publish the report/dashboard into BOE using xCelsius/Crystal and the DataSource is BW?

Without a CR or a XC dashboard even item #1 would not be possible. Yes you need the reports and dashbaords.

Did you select the publisher to be installed as part of the Integration Kit for SAP ?

Hi Ingo,

Thanks for your input.

I guess my system is in the mess now.

I would like to re-installed the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 on my laptop running on Windows.

I have downloaded again the following files from http://service.sap.com/swdc -> BusinessObjects products and packages -> SBOP ENTERPRISE BOBJ ENTERPRISE XI 3.1,

51035055_part1 (976563 KB)

51035055_part2 (976563 KB)

51035055_part3 (695986 KB)

I am able to unzip the file (51035055_part1 ) but hit the following error at the end of unzip process:

CRC failed in u201851035055\package\BOESP52.cabu2019. File is broken.

Have you encountered this before? I have downloaded again the same file but still encountered the same error.

I am using winzip to unzip the 51035055_part1 as the file extension is u201CFileu201D. I am using winrar to unzip 51035055_part2 and 51035055_part3 without any error but both file come up with the same file name, so I didn't continue to extract the 51035055_part2 and 51035055_part2.

In your blog, you only execute the .exe file once in order to install the XI 3.1. So I confuse...

Please advise, thank you.

Hi,

I haven't seen that before. did you try to download the files again ?

in addition - make sure you have the right OS on your laptop. BusinessObjects Enterprise is a server system. you can check the supported OS on http://service.sap.com/bosap-support.
