SAP ECC Client Copy Inputs

Dear Users,

We have the following test environment: AE1(ECC Client 320) --> AB1(BW Client 400)

As a pre test for a project scope we are planning to make a client copy of ECC AE1 320 to AE1 310.

My question is do i need to perform any configurations/changes in BW client 400 system to point to the new AE1 310 client? As we have many delta pointer loads and etc.

Once the pre test is done then i have to re point the BW system to AE1 320 client.

Please suggest what needs to be taken care or to be done?

Regards

Zabi

Hi,

Test Environment - AE1(ECC Client 320) --> AB1(BW Client 400).

Client copy AE1 320 to AE1 310. Fine.

Want to test AE1 310 thru AB1 BW 400?

If yes then have connections between AE1 31- to AB1 400? if yes then no issues about delta pointer.

if not then you/basis need to provide connections and later test data sources.

if got any rfc issues, cross versify logical mappings and later do the testing.

Due to the copy prod ECC entries will be copied as source, so with basis team help, change the tale entry -RSLOGSYSMAP entries.

Thanks

Zabi,

This is not an easy decision. So do as much research before you do it.

IS your old ECC separated and not connected to BW system while testing ? CLIENT name change in BW is huge as the data flow is client specific.

To answer your question..

Yes you need to fix SM59, IDOC, There is more documentation on BDLS and system copy in this forum.

If you plan to connect back the old client back to BW, then why cant you keep the same name to ecc standby client during testing ?

Hi Gopi,

The old ECC is not connected to BW system.

This old client is with number 330.

Do you mean to rename this to 320? Then we will have two clients with same numbers.

The basis guys will do their part.

I have to figure out from BW side what changes/configurations i need to make.

310,320,330.....which one is what ? My understanding is to you want to avoid 2 clients in BW?

Any new client connected to BW requires generation of data flow , you know how difficult that would be.

Why cant you backup the current ecc client and use it later when you test is complete ?

we need to have two gui entries to login to the ecc systems(bakcp up and original) ( ip address and ap server), however only one client is connected to BW.

now ....BW <> original ecc

testing...BW <> original ecc   ( backup ecc exists not connected)

after testing....BW<>Backup ecc

When you are done with testing ;connect back the backup to BW. Any deltas performed during testing will have to fixed(init)
