Dear All,

Our requirement is to restrict users from modifying stories saved in a specific stories. They should only be able to save the stories and create their secondary version but should not modify the original version.

We know the way to do this by sharing the folder/stories with specific user/groups but this would not be feasible in our case. Is there a solution for this using user roles or otherwise. Please suggest.

Thanks,

Bhushan

Hello Bhushan,

you mentioned that you want the users to give them the ability to save their own story. Do you want them to actually save a copy of the story or do you want your users to be able to "personalize" the story ?

On the "saving" part, you could assign your users the ability to "read" the story (or read the content of a folder) and the ability to Create Files in the folder but not the option to "Update". In that way you can read the story and do a "Save as".

Hello Ingo,

Is there a way to share a story with a team with only read access. But individually all the users in team have multiple roles assigned with Admin access.

i want that apart from one or two users no one else would be able to edit that story.

Thanks

Hi sheebarani,

You need to make custom role with only view permissions and to check these options in Role.

Public Files and Private Files. It will make available Save As button in Story and after user do the save it will be available for editing. Original Story will always remain in View mode. These options enables Creation of files in Folders. Also user can create its own folder and save as in it.

Hello Bhushan,

take a look at the different roles, which allows you to setup security for the users. There are several predefined roles and you also can create your own custom roles.

Hi Ingo,

I have reviewed the roles and the permissions we can set for various SAC aspects. However, the list of permissions doesn't have anything specific to control access over Stories. If the user has read access to public folders, he can only view the stories but cant save them. And if we grant update right then they can edit all the stories. We want to control the story editing rights, at the same time giving them the option to save the story for their own use keeping the original story intact.

Please suggest.

Thanks,

Bhushan
