Reconcilation is the process of comparing the data after it is transferred to the BW system with the source system. The procedure to do reconcilation is either you can check the data from the SE16 if the data is coming from a particular table only or if the datasource is any std datasource then the data is coming from the many tables in that scenario what I used to do ask the R/3 consultant to report on that particular selections and used to get the data in the excel sheet and then used to reconcile with the data in BW . If you are familiar with the reports of R/3 then you are good to go meaning you need not be dependant on the R/3 consultant ( its better to know which reports to run to check the data ).
once you are done with the develpoing phase and when you move to Quality, you need to reconcile data to make sure you are pulling the correct data from SAP or Non-SAP sources.
the procedure is outlined below:
assuming you have a SD cube in BW and you got the data for that correctly. now you want to validate(reconcile) the data from r/3.
1. go to data base tables(some times, you might have more than 2 tables or a functional module) in R/3 for the particular datasource. check the number of entries. select some fields(quantity, doc number, creation date, sales ord, customer, etc). copy the values to an excel file.
2. go to rsa3 and check the number of entries.
3. come to BW and check entries in PSA(this should be same as R/3 record count). check for the same sales order num, quantity, customer, etc. these values should match with r/3 values.
4. check the PSA data with ODS/IC
right click on ODS, manage>>active data and compare with PSA. for Cube you can use LISTCUBE and compare with PSA. pick the same fields (order num, quantity, customer, etc) and check the values.there might be some routines in TR/UR. so, there will be difference in values. then here, you need to check the code and validate it.
5. check the data with ODS with IC and with delta's lastly.
Go through the doc.
send, chk n confirm da same.
********plz asign points if helpful***************
