Hi

plz tell me what is the use of to implement the oss notes and give me the detail steps to implement oss notes.

Suppose my landscape is 3 system landscape;and i implement a note in my dev system.after that we can transport this note to the qas & prd system or we can implement individually in qas & prd system also.

Hi Juan,

Just a minor correction.

Whenever you implement changes via SNOTE and standard SAP code gets changed SAP automatically prompts for a transport request. So OSS note changes can be transported.

Hello Arun,

Why do you need to download the notes from marketplace. You can simply use SNOTE for this. Go to SNOTE and use download SAP note option. That will download the note for you.

I am not sure that once an OSS note has been fully implemented you can deimplement it as such. I have tried all these options in the past and none of them has worked . Cancelling note implementation works probably only when the note is still undergoing change. The only option available is that the code needs to be modified manually. of course support package import will restore the situation but we can,t use support packages for these purposes alone.

Hi Ruchit,

I have de-Implemented the Note i have implemented in the past. There is a typical example where the Note provided by SAP could not solve the issue.

I intially implemented the note in my DEV system and transported the change across to QAS. It could not solve my problem and i deimplemeted the note in the same manner and transported this change to QAS (Bringing it to sync) and then reported the same to SAP. It has come up with version 2 which solved the issue. There may be cases where some notes cannot be de implemented, but in our case its a code change and is always reversible by the option DE IMPLEMENT the SAP NOTE option in SNOTE tcode.

hello Arun,

First of all check whether the note can be implemeneted in your system or not. For this check whether the note is valid for your release or not. If it is then check the support pack to which it belongs. Check in SPAM if thqt support package has already been implemented in your system. If it has been the the note cant be implemented. If the support package is not imported then there is a chance that this note can be implemented unless ofcoyurse it has already been implemeneted seperatelt through SNOTE by someone else. let us assume that release check and support package check are successful.

To implement OSS notes please go to transaction SNOTE in your development system. Then you need to choose GOTO in menu bar and then select SAP NOTE DOWNLOAD . A pop up would come and here you can give the OSS note number. Once the download is done you can find the OSS note in the node NEW. Open the node and search for the note using CTRl F. Once you find the note then double click on it. You will get the entire info about the note and here you can check if the note can be implemented or not. If it can be implemented then only can we proceed.

Now assuming we are on the screen which gives all the details of the note please go to menu bar select SAP NOTE and then select Implement SAP note. It will ask you if you want to implement the note . Continue. Also it will prompt you for a request (workbench request normally) ; Supply a request . Then note implementation will start and once it is complete you will get an information message.

Coming to your second question de-implementing OSS note. As far as I know OSS note cannot be de-implemented once they have been implemented.

Hi,

Just to add to Ruchit's point, SAP OSS note can be Deimplemented. In the Client in DEV where you have implemented the OSS Note via SNOTE, your OSS note if completely implemented would be available in IN PROCESSING mode. Just click on that and in the top menu, you would find the DE IMPLEMENT NOTE option (CTRL+F2).

This action would deimplement the note and you can transport this change as well across all your clients if the OSS did not solve your problem.

notes can be implemented using T-code SNOTE , first implemment the note in DEV then move it to QAS ,ask the users if the prolem has been solved then move the note not PRD . you can aslo deimplement the Note

As far as i know notes need to be implemented in each of the systems via SNOTE, you can't move a note or transport a note. Once tested implemented in DEV and tested, implement is QAS, etc...
