The essence of integration of all of the above in a unified development platform is called SAP NetWeaver. So, the name Integrated Development Environment ( IDE ) inherited for SAP NetWeaver.
Purpose of Netweaver:-
SAP NetWeaver provides,
1) an open integration u2013 Ex: Platform independent,
2) an extended application platform u2013 Ex: xApps,
3) permits the integration of the Enterprise Services Architecture (ESA),
4) an unified business processes across technological boundaries,
5) integration of applications as needed, and
6) access and edit simple information easily and in a structured manner.
