If you are a beginner in MDM,I feel there is no better guide to start with than the MDM reference guides.
The ref guides are four major pdf documents covering the four MDM components which you will use for performing Master data mangemnet.
1) MDM Console
2) MDM Data Manager
3) MDM Import Manager
4) MDM Syndicator.
Before you start going through these Documents all you need is a fair idea about what is Master data all about ,where it is used,why it is used and what are all the problems one are facing with master data.
Once you are through these ref guide syou can avail many other online documents on MDM which are available on many sites including SDN,SAP help.com etc.

It will introduce you to the world of MDM in a systematic way.
