Hello
Happy to be a new member
Moving ahead, I am facing an issue installing BI4 on windows 2008 box.
We have very limited ports open, and hence 1433 for sql server is not open, this is the reason the installation hangs, and gives error message as "ensure that the CMS supports SDK version 1400', in the event viewer it shows error for SIA and CMS as not able to connect to BOE140, failed to open the database.
Now, I wanted to know, is there a way that I can change the port of sql server which is going to get installed from any file , since it does not give an option to change port no for sql server at the time of installation as it gives for tomcat.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Rahul
Request clarification before answering.
Little bit more details on your environment will help us understand the problem better.
Are you installing default SQL Server DB or the SQL server will be located somewhere else ?
Where and why the SQL server port is closed ?

Thank you very much for replying, Denis.
Environment Details
Windows 2008 R2 (Cloud Server)
SAP BI4 (trying to install )
Installing SAP BI4 with default SQL Server on the same machine (everything would be localhost)
So, it makes me clear that to install locally everything I do not need 1433 port to be opened for sql.
If this is true, could there be any other reason , I am getting error message as,
not able to connect to system database BOE140, unable to connect to database.
Also, everything else gets installed but not sql server.

I feel the same, I saw one folder as MSSQLSERVER2008, under which setup.exe was there for running sql setup, I ran that so that , and at a point of checking some pre-requisites, it vanishes suddenly.
'Scanning and Normalizing Sql server registry key permission'
So, I gave full control to eveyone on HKLM, still the wizard for sql server does not work.
Also, I ran system configuration checked (under sql server installation centre), it passes every requirement.
Here is the exact error message I get from event viewer
The root server reported an error Initialization Failure. (Reason: BusinessObjects Enterprise CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "BusinessObjects CMS 140". Reason: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]SQL Server Network Interfaces: Error Locating Server/Instance Specified [xFFFFFFFF]. BusinessObjects Enterprise CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "BusinessObjects CMS 140". Reason: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]SQL Server Network Interfaces: Error Locating Server/Instance Specified [xFFFFFFFF]. CDatabase::Open failure.
).
And downloading anything on the machine is not possible as it has been kept far away from internet , and even port to share a drive are blocked.
Just wanted to know, any trick I can follow here?
Thank you for your time on this.
Regards
Rahul
