Dear Gurus,
I copied an infosource from the standard 0CO_PC_01. While trying to assign the corresponding datasource (0CO_PC_01) to the copied infosorce from the source system, I do not see this datasource in the list of datasources displayed. My question is
1. Can I link a customized infosource in BW to a standard datasource in source system?
2. If yes, why am I unable to see the datasource in the list while trying to assign the datasource.
The datasource is already activated and I can extract information through RSA3 in the source system.
Thanks & Regards

Hello,
Yes it is possible to link a standard datasource to a customized infosource. You cannot see the datasource to link it to the newly created infosource, because, probably it is already linked to the standard infosource.
Solutions:
Unlink the standard infosource and the standand datasource;
OR
Create a customized datasource based on the standard one;

Thanks for the quick update Jorge. You are correct that the datasource is already assigned to the standard infosource. Could you please highlight the procedure on how copy a datasource from the standard keeping all it's functionalities? Link to any such document will also help us a lot.
Thanks & Regards

Hello,
You don't have no tcode to copy it, you have to do it creating a new datasource and do it manually.
And if we are talking about a 2lis* extractor, in this case and others like this, you cannot simulate it behavior with a customized datasource.
A question. Why don't you use the standard infosource ? Maybe you want to maintain the standard objects.
You should do that, but in my opinion you should maintain the standard InfoProviders and make changes to the standard Infosources and datasources. You can also make an option for my other alternative, unlink the standard infosource and standard datasource, and assign the standard datasource to the customized infosource.

Jorge,
The confusion arose because we had 2 surce systems connected to the same BIW server and I wanted to have separate infosources for each source system. I guess I can still use the standard infosource and have diferent settings for each company as yu mentioned. Thanks you very much.

Hi,
you said you have two source system...then you should be able to assign these two data sources to two separate infosources...a data source can be assigned to only one target but a target can be assigned to many sources.
I think right now youa re trying to asssign the same source to another infosource...try to assign the one which is not assigned yet...
for this you need to chaose the correct source system in the pop up.
Thanks
Ajeet
