How to Terminate instance with an error?

Hello,

Thanks for guidance/answers. I am not certain if this should be a support incident or a community question, but see similar questions here.

We checked the community and SAP One Support Launchpad/KBA/Incidents and failed to find guidance on this. It is possible we miss something.

Earlier this year, in our tenant, we attempted to create an instance on Azure. However, in the Azure tenant we used, we did not have create virtual machine capability so we were unable to create the instance - it failed with an error.

From a cost view, we are ok - nothing got created, nothing to charge.

However, from working with our CAL Tenant, this instance remains as a zombie, taking space and drawing our attention.

We would like to remove it and search for guidance.

A screenshot, with some information redacted, is attached for reference.

Looking forward to guidance/assistance.

Hi Wallace,

Your account has no the required permission both for creating and for terminating instances in Azure. This is the reason the instance is not created.
We could say not only the instance, but also the whole account is some kind of zombie.

If I'm correct and you have no other instances in the same Azure account in CAL you can delete the whole account. When doing that it will inform you that the instances will also be delete, but without the related entities in Azure.
I suppose there is nothing created in Azure, but nevertheless you could double-check if there is resource group with name "SAPCAL-S00xxxxxxxx-205895133" and delete it.

Removed the Account and the instance was removed also.

Here's the error message:

Failed Operation Terminate On Step Delete Resource Group Cloud Provider Microsoft Azure Message AuthorizationFailed - HTTP 403 - The client '339afd86-8ab6-4d0d-a0c6-843add6dc607' with object id '339afd86-8ab6-4d0d-a0c6-843add6dc607' does not have authorization to perform action 'Microsoft.Resources/subscriptions/resourcegroups/delete' over scope '/subscriptions/16db60ef-c8a3-44a3-a781-7421df55f1cd/resourcegroups/SAPCAL-S0001305234-205895133' or the scope is invalid. This Azure never was quite ready for us, but we had to make the attempt to discover that. Seems we got it stuck a bit.

tammy.powlas3 We have the terminate, and choose it, and the instance doesn't go away - as the instance never got fully created.

We've had and used CAL for 5 years or more, stood up and terminated instances. This one is a bit different.

the error talks about not being able to remove resource groups.

The desire is to simply flush this/remove this from our tenant.

The Azure environment where it was attempted is either stood down or soon will be.

Can you click the 3 dots and select "Terminate"?
