Function Module to read Hierarchy

Hello,

Which Function Module to use to read a Node in the hierarchy of an infoobject. I searched onthis topic. They suggested:

BM_HIERARCHY_READ_FROM_ROOT and

BAPI_HIERSTRUCT_READMULTIPLE

But they are not helpful. Please suggest something else.
