Hi,

The Central Management Server service is down and any attempt to restart it fails.

The Windows servers were rebooted but still no luck.

I have the following error in the event log,

Event Type: Error

Event Source: BusinessObjects_CMS

Event Category: NameServer

Event ID: 48116

Date: 3/1/2009

Time: 10:06:15 AM

User: N/A

Computer: 01AL10015011001

Description:

Failed to register object ""com.seagatesoftware.img.osca.aps.01AL10015011001.AD.BLS.COM."01AL10015011001.AD.BLS.COM"-01AL10015011001.cms:aps"" to the name server. Reason: Transport user error: invalid object name..

Could somebody please help me with this?

Is this a new install or it used to work and stopped recently after some change ?

Looking at your machine/CMS server name, I don;t like 01AL10015011001.AD.BLS.COM , change it to something that starts with a letter, instead of a number.

Hi,

This is an existing installation that has been working for so long.

The issue has happened just today.

If it just started today - something has changed, find out what it was and you'll know how to fix it.

But first - enable CMS tracing by adding -trace to CMS server command line and collect CMS logs.

You should see more clearly what the problem is.

Hi,

"Transport Error" has to 99,9% something to do with Network Infrastructure such as a Proxy or Firewall. Check with your IT if the closed some ports etc. on the Network
