External URL Link to Solution manager Document Management

Hi All,

I am working on document management in Solution manager EHP1 system.

I read that we can provide external url link to documents in solution manager enabling access through a url. This will reduce dependecy to login to sapgui.

I am not clear on how to achive this and request your help on the same.

I have done the following:

1. Created external alias for contentserver service.

2. Assinged the role to the service user for that alias.

When i go to tcode SOLAR02, it opens up an existing project and shows general documentation tab. But i am unable to find any "Generate URL" push button.

Kindly let me know which services to activate to achieve the Generate URL pushbutton.

Also My system is already configured and operational. Can I run the report for activating service, again? will this cause any reversal of custom settings?

Can one of you elaborate on how to do what was describe?

"created the external alias for /contentserver and it caused the issue"

I'm have the same need to allow users to open documents in read mode in IE.
