Error While Extracting Installer - Missing volume

This is the installer for 4.2 SP08 Patch 500

I can't get it to extract. I've tried over and over. I've tried re-downloading the installers 3 different times from SAP, using the download manager each time. The last time I just went on with the installation on the server, but the install failed miserably and never created an SIA.

  1. I've confirmed the user logged in and executing the extraction has full execute privledges to the entire C:\BOE directory
  2. I've also confirmed that our IT has disabled on access scan from Bitdefender for the entire C:\BOE directory

Anyone else run into this error?

Hi Brian,
I have faced this kind of issues before its not the antivirus or the file path location.

Its simple there is Part 1 or the .exe file and Part 2 .rar file.

Solution: Put both the files in one location just run exe file by administrator rights installer will extract both parts and run seamlessly.. And without any issues.
Good luck have Great Day...!

Thanks for prompt reply! I was always under the impression it needed to be extracted first!!

Trying this now!

Hi!

Happy to find this here. I had this problem with other versions of BO downloads. I was using 7zip.

Running .exe installer directly does work, but if you encounter any other issue during installation (I had issues with the setup.engine folder) you have to extract it multiple times which is annoying because it takes so much time. Beeing able to extract to a known location before running the setup.exe saves a great deal of time in case a restart is needed.

As another side note:
Installing AfO Scheduling Add-on 2.8 SP4 some few weeks back was working w/o problem.
Running 2.8 SP5 last week was failing multiple times. We had to disable Antivirus (McAfee) in order to get the installation done. This wasn't necessary never before.

Best regards,
Stefan

When you run the installer to do the extraction in Windows, the extracted files will be located in a folder that starts with "RARSFX" under C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp. Note that AppData is a hidden folder...

What I usually do is run the installer to extract the files. Then, before running continuing the install, I'll copy this folder elsewhere so that I have a copy of it in case I encounter issues during the install or for use on other servers in the cluster or other environments so that I don't have to go through the unpacking process again.

Also, if you have an install that fails, you'll want to go to the same folder and delete any "RARSFX..." folder that doesn't get automatically deleted so that you have it taking up several GB of disk space.
