Error 1904.

I have a VS 2005 win application that uses Crystal Reports 2008 for reporting. It has been successfully in production for over one year. Recently the installation setup fails on XP machines with an Error 1904. many dlls registration errors occur ("C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\*.dll") indicating they did not register. On a Vista test machine the install succeeds but the program crashes as soon as it tries to load the Crystal Reports Engine. I am using the CR 2008 sp 3 merge module with Installshield and am using the requires MFC 8.0 merge modules as a prerequisite for Vista amd Win 7 OS. Nothing has changed here. What may have caused this is an Epson scanner was installed on this development machine by mistake. The problem started after this mistake was made. Scanner and all associated software was removed. Older archived setups have failed as well. After 4 full days of working on this one problem I have made no progress. There are coutless other posting on the web of this problem however so far none of these solutions have solved this huge problem. DEP settings are correct on target machines. I have completely uninstalled CR2008 and all SPs. I then reinstalled all. During the install of CR2008 (main program Service Pack 3 Full Install) I received an error at the end (Error 2753 agent.exe not marked for installation). Crystal Reports seemed to work fine however the original problem with installation stll exists. On the development machine all works fine from within VS IDE but I cannot deploy app. which means I'm out of business.

Re. Error 2753. See the below KBase (I understand that you are not using CRVS2010, but perhaps the KB may lead you to a solution(?):

BTW.; the above may not be as useless as may appear on 1st blush - if you Google Error 2753 agent.exe, you'll get a number of results re. FLEXnet component of InstallSheild
