Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is a set of standards for structuring information that is to be electronically exchanged between and within businesses, organizations.
EDI is used to send a messages, it is one of the way to send messages.
Mainly we are using two versions of EDIs.
ANSI X12 : The US people generally using this one.
EDI FACT : The Europian countries using this one.
EDI is a 3 digits number....The real time used documents are;
850 - Purchase Order
856 - ASN Advanced shipment notice or delivery
810 - Invoice.
855 - Pruchase order acknowledgement
997 - Functional Acknowledgement
860 - PO Change
864 - Text message.
