difference between SP and SPs

Not exactly an XI problem as such may be it is for all the components in NetWeaver but <b>I am a bit confused about what is a SP and what is a SP stack.</b>

Can someone throw some light?

SPS is Support Package Stack and SP is service pack.

in simple terms...is it not a new version with enhancements and new features?

so SPS and SP are only terms or do they carry any specific meanings as such?

I believe those are just terms and both of them imply the same i.e features/fixes/ enhancements
