Difference between GUI scripting and LSMW

Dear,

When reading about GUI scripting I found the following quote: "Change existing master or transactional data, create master data in mass or even just data conversion for certain tasks that LSMW can’t handle." (source).

What I am looking for now is what exactly it is that LSMW cannot handle but GUI scripting can.

Some pointers from my point of view. I'm sure there is more.

LSMW

- Transportable & client independent

- Efficient for large repeating data uploads and migration

Scripting

- Allows data transformation & calculation while uploading

- Can take scripted decisions based on system response
