Difference between CBTA and Worksoft Certify

Need to know the difference between these two tools, as have to start one of them and i am not sure which one can be better for the automation purpose.

CBTA added test automation functionality to Solman 7.1 SP07. Prior to this, you had to use tools like TAO, HPQ and Worksoft to automate testing (require additional licensing). These integrated with Solman via Test Automation Framework (TAF). My opinion is that SAP will invest heavily in improving testing functionality with its own tools to help reduce the cost of implementing change. This lowers TCO for customers so they can invest more in SAP innovations (increase license sales). Going with Solman also makes sense in that you only have to support one ALM tool (Solman) vs multiple ALM tools.

With Solman 7.2 Test Management Suite you get the below:

• Functional Scope Manual and automated functional tests
• Automated change impact analysis of maintenance activities for test scope optimization of regression tests.
• New requirements triggering semi-automated test planning for user acceptance tests and functional integration tests
• High degree of test automation possible

Hi Venkatesh,

what is your requirement? could you please elaborate further.

you need to do test automation for what kind of systems SAP ABAP or JAVA system or non SAP system etc.

Testing automation is a very big area having 100+ automation tools in the market...every tool has their own good or bad in it. CBTA is part of Solution Manager system so it also means you need to have SAP landscape or other systems for which testing needs to be done are well connected with Solution Manager.

Hello Prakhar,
Thanks for the response, and i am quite new to the automation and CBTA specifically so was not sure about what all to mention here, regarding my concern.
Currently i have a concern regarding the same tool and the scripting that i am doing,
" While creating a flow i am not able to create a CBTA test script component, i can just see the CBTA default and screen component."
Could you please help me with this query.?
EWM system is what we are doing test automation for..

Is anybody aware of the different mode in Worksoft Certify i.e. Classic Mode and Automator's Mode and how does it work with SolMan 7.2
